Welcome!

Hello! Welcome to the website of the Committee for the Advancement of Role-Playing Games (CAR-PGa), an international network of researchers into all aspects of role-playing games. (By "role-playing games," we generally mean what are referred to as "traditional" or "tabletop" or "paper-and-pencil" or "pencil-and-dice" role-playing games, not video games. For more details, see "What are RPGs?" at left.)

This site contains several basic categories of information, all of which are accessible via the menu at left: information on what role-playing games (RPGs) are, an annotated bibliography of studies, court cases, and other literature, advice on how to discuss/defend role-playing games, and, of course, a lot of information about us. If you've got what you suspect is a frequently asked question, check out the FAQ page first. Can't find what you're looking for anywhere? Contact an Officer, then try our Links while you wait.

Any problems with this site should be directed to the webmaster (e-mail: webmaster @ this domain, car-pga.org); any disagreements with its contents should be directed to an Officer.

February 2009: Early Spring Cleaning
This site got cited by Judge Tinder in the widely-noted Singer v. Raemisch decision. Admittedly, they were only quoting our description of ourselves, but I felt that it was as good an excuse as any for making me update it. Anyone wishing to help—either in the update or with CAR-PGa's work—can contact me (the webmaster and Regional Director for region 2, including the 7th Circuit) by checking out the Officers page.
